Product Description
The SPOMB – A revolution in bait delivery!
Only very occasionally does a new product arrive on the carp scene and immediately seem set to create
a revolution in the way we deliver bait samples to a swim. Spods, Catapults, Throwing sticks, Baiting spoons
etc work well for certain situations and usually for specific baits but the Spomb is truly in a class of its own!
Aerodynamic and totally enclosed the Spomb is easy to cast and delivers 100% of your bait on target each and every
time - there are no holes to clog or lose bait like spods...
Key Features
Accurate - deliver bait with pin point accuracy even at extreme range and in strong cross or head winds!
No Loss - Unlike a spod the bait is enclosed and only releases on impact in the target area. No mid flight losses!
Instant Release - The spomb springs open on impact and immediately releases all the bait without the need for
repeated tugs on the line.
Any bait - boilies, dry or wet mix, maggots, worms, particles of all sizes , method balls or any combination of
baits can be loaded and delivered.
Instant Retrieve - The Spomb opens on impact so can be retrieved immediately without waiting for it to
surface like a spod.
Easy Retrieve - The Spomb 'skitters' across the surface on retrieve and unlike a spod does not 'bog down'.
Fast - Cast, Retrieve, Load and Re-Cast the Spomb as quickly as any spod.
Technical
Spomb Ltd recommend 4lb - 5lb test curve rod with 45lb 15lb tapered leader. However in practical use we have also
used 3.25 and 3.50 Saxon rods to cast loaded Spombs up to 100yds with ease using 30lb Suffix braid on a Diawa
Emblem 5000 reel.
Unloaded weight 2¼ oz (60 gm). Loaded with corn, casting weight 6½ oz (180 gm).
On impact the Spomb will open releasing the entire contents immediately. It will then float for instant fast retrieve
across the surface and be clean and ready for re-loading.
FAQ
1. Does the Spomb need to land on the red button to open?
NO, not with a heavy load. If using lighter bait, such as bread or mixer, it would open better if you did let it go nose
first.
2. Can I feather the cast?
Sure - just leave the latch setting in the standard position as purchased
3. When should I turn the latch 180 degrees?
The red button latch is set up for the average angler and typical weather. The stronger latch is an option when fishing
in extreme weather conditions, strong wind and rain in your face or extremely hot weather. The World's longest casters
(120yds+) would use the stronger latch to prevent it opening prematurely on very long casts.
4. What happens if it fails to open?
This is a very rare occurrence. Ensure there is no bait fouling the mechanism and make sure you have the red button
set for the standard latch especially if wishing to feather it down. If this happens, just reel in and cast again!
5. Can I use wet or sloppy bait?
YES, as long as you fill the cargo area behind the button section. Nothing will be able to move to the button section
except for liquid, which will not prevent it from opening. The nature of the spomb results in the contents being washed
clean on impact.
6. Will it work on the 'clip'?
YES. For best results cast past your normal mark (as you would with a spod) and bring the rod back as it hits the clip
then lower the rod down so the nose enters first. Lift the rod straight away and reel in.
